A Christmas Present
Murray and Lendl split again
The partnership of Andy Murray and Ivan Lendl was announced as a mutual agreement to end, with both parties noting that the spark of their previous success had diminished. After a stellar 2016, where they won Wimbledon, Olympic Gold, the ATP Finals, and reached World No. 1, 2017 was a poor season by their high standards. Murray was significantly hampered by a hip injury for most of this year, forcing him to skip the US Open and end his season prematurely after Wimbledon. As a result, he and Lendl spent less and less time together, and this ultimately led to a mutual desire to move in different directions. The split was amicable, with both feeling it was the right time to stop working together, with Murray now focusing on rehab for his hip and Lendl continuing to work with 18-year-old American prospect Patrick Kypson.
Practice @ US Open 2016
At the start of this year’s US Open, Ivan Lendl supervised Andy Murray’s practice session today. On the court next to them, Novak Djokovic and Boris Becker were focused on their own work.
